Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 23 May 2026

Welcome to MacMaster Design. These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) set out the basis on which we sell our handcrafted furniture and lighting through macmasterdesign.com, by email, and over the telephone. Please read them carefully before placing an order. By ordering from us, you agree to be bound by them.

1. About us

MacMaster Design (“we”, “us”, “our”) designs and makes original furniture and lighting in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at any time using the details below:

  • Address: The Guildings, Trimpley, Bewdley, Worcestershire, DY12 1PG, United Kingdom
  • VAT number: GB 112291455
  • Website: macmasterdesign.com
  • Email: info@macmasterdesign.com
  • Telephone: +44 (0) 1299 861738

2. Who these Terms apply to

We sell to both private customers (“consumers”) and trade customers such as interior designers, architects, retailers, and specifiers (“trade customers”). Most of these Terms apply to everyone; where a particular section applies only to consumers or only to trade customers, this is made clear.

Nothing in these Terms affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer under United Kingdom law.

3. Our products

Every MacMaster piece is handcrafted to order. Because each item is individually made from natural materials, slight variations in grain, colour, finish and dimensions are part of the character of the work and are not defects.

Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, prices are based on our standard timber options:

  • Walnut or Oak for the majority of the range.
  • Natural Birch ply for the Eclipse range only.

Bespoke timber and stained finishes are available on request and are priced separately. Please contact us before ordering if you would like a quotation for a bespoke option.

4. Placing an order

You can place an order by email, telephone or through our website. We will reply to confirm receipt, check specification (timber, finish, size, quantity, delivery address), and issue a written quotation or invoice.

A contract between you and MacMaster Design comes into existence when we acknowledge your order in writing, and you make the payment described in section 5. Until that point, either party is free to withdraw.

5. Pricing and payment

All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP) and, where applicable, are inclusive of UK VAT. Recommended retail prices (RRP) are also available, inclusive of standard UK mainland delivery; the appropriate delivery charge is shown alongside each price.

Because every product is made to order, payment of the full balance is required on receipt of our invoice. We accept the payment methods set out on the invoice. Production does not begin until we have received cleared funds, so please notify us as soon as your payment has been sent to avoid any delay.

Trade customers buying at net prices are subject to the trade payment terms shown on their account or quotation. Bespoke and custom orders may require a non-refundable deposit, which will be set out in your quotation.

6. Production and lead times

Lead times run from the date we receive cleared payment, not from the date the order is placed. As a rough guide:

  • Pendant lights and table lights: 4 to 8 weeks.
  • Furniture and floor lights: 6 to 12 weeks.

These timings are indicative. Show seasons, public holidays, the availability of specialist materials and shipping conditions can occasionally lengthen production. We will keep you informed if anything affects the dispatch date for your order.

7. Delivery

Standard delivery rates for UK mainland addresses are shown on our website and on each invoice. Delivery costs may be reduced for larger orders. Please ask for a tailored quotation. Full details, including how we ship and what to do on receipt, are set out in our Delivery Information page.

8. Bespoke and custom orders

Bespoke commissions, including non-standard sizes, timbers, stains and finishes, are quoted individually. Once a bespoke order is confirmed and payment received, it cannot be cancelled or returned unless it is faulty or not as described, because the work cannot reasonably be resold.

9. Changes and cancellations

If you need to change or cancel an order, please tell us in writing as soon as possible. Whether we can accommodate a change depends on how far production has progressed.

  • Before production has started, you may cancel or amend your order without charge, except for any non-refundable bespoke deposits that have been agreed in advance.
  • After production has been initiated, cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee of 20% of the order value to cover materials and labour already committed.

This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer in respect of faulty or misdescribed goods (see section 12).

10. Goods damaged in transit

Please inspect your order on arrival. If any item is received damaged, you must notify us in writing within 2 working days of receipt; otherwise, we will not be able to claim on the carrier’s insurance, and a replacement or refund may not be possible. Please keep all original packaging and provide photographs of the damage where you can.

11. Our 2-year guarantee

Every MacMaster product is covered by a 2-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of delivery. The guarantee covers repair or, at our discretion, replacement of any product found to be faulty under normal domestic use. It does not cover damage caused by accident, misuse, alteration, exposure to extreme conditions, or normal wear and tear of natural materials. The guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights.

12. Consumer rights

When you are buying as a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that the goods will be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a product does not meet these standards, please contact us, and we will work with you to put things right.

Because our pieces are made to your specification or clearly personalised, the standard 14-day right of cancellation under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 does not apply to bespoke or made-to-order goods. Your other statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

13. Trade customers

Where you are buying in the course of a business, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 do not apply. Trade orders are governed by these Terms and any trade-specific terms in your quotation or account agreement. Net prices are confidential and for the trade account holder’s use only.

14. Cord sets, bulbs and accessories

A cord set is included with every lighting purchase. LED bulbs can be supplied with your order at cost price: £7.00 for all mini versions and wall lights, and £10.00 for all other lighting products. Please tell us at the time of ordering if you would like bulbs included.

15. Liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability under or in connection with a contract is limited to the price paid for the goods to which the claim relates. We are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.

16. Intellectual property

All designs, drawings, photography, text and other materials on macmasterdesign.com remain the intellectual property of MacMaster Design. You may not copy, reproduce, adapt or use them for commercial purposes without our written consent.

17. Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including strikes, supplier failures, fire, flood, severe weather, government action, pandemic, or interruption of transport networks. If such an event occurs, we will let you know as soon as we can and work with you to agree on a revised timetable.

18. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one in force on the date your order is acknowledged in writing. The latest version is always available on macmasterdesign.com.
